The sentences imposed on the political prisoners imprisoned in the United States should be revised, reverend Jorge Raschke pointed out.

After recognizing that he has changed his position with respect to this issue, the protestant leader asked for "pardon for these children of God by way of American presidential executive clemency." Raschke asked for special consideration for Juan Segarra Palmer, who, according to his words, "has demonstrated a special change in his life."

"I believe that some of these prisoners have been subjected to cruel and unusual punishments, disproportionate and in excess of their crime, while in the United States worse criminals walk free in the streets," said Raschke, while he spoke about the preponderance of the values of love and pardon that should take place during the time of reflection of Holy Week.

"In this spirit I am moved to ask the government of the United States of America to revise the sentences imposed on every one of the political prisoners who committed crimes believing that it was the best way to advance their cause," said Raschke in his message for Holy Week.

The religious leader anticipated that he would make efforts to visit these "political prisoners" to see up close the conditions in which they are held.
